Unfair!!!!
I could not care less about the issue previously when i flipped through The Star paper. It does not concern me at all since i am still free and single.
It is really an eye opener when i read Mak Andeh's blog about the unfairness of the ammended Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Bill that was passed without controversy in Parliament. Much more upset when it was voted by those people that we have selected to represent us to voice our Public rights.
I realized the unfairness and future impact of the ammendments to single mothers and their children. Plus, of course "langit tak selalu cerah" for those women who are still married and currently in relationship.
Five Controversial Points in the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) (Ammendment);
1) The right of a husband to claim a share of his existing wife's property upon his committing polygamy
2) Making polygamy easir for men
3) Wife to choose either maintenance or division of joint property upon a husband's polygamous marriage
4) Enhancing husband's right to divorce
5) Allowing a husband to get a court order to stop his wife from disposing of her property
So unfair and i OBJECT!! We have to speak up and claim our rights!
